개요[편집]
임베디드 기기 전용 Windows이다. 원래 이름은 Windows CE였다가 Windows Embedded Compact로 개명되었다.
주로 전자사전, 네비게이션(사제, 차량 제조사별 순정 상관없음), 산업용 PDA, PMP, MP3에 많이 탑재되었지만 이마저도 안드로이드 기반으로 갈아타는 추세다. 현기차 순정 내비 기준 네비게이션 업데이트 파일을 보면 apk 파일이 있다.
현재는 신버전이 안 나오고 Windows 10 IoT Core가 포지션을 잇고 있다. 즉, IoT 기기용 Windows도 NT 커널로 선회했다.

Windows Phone 7.x의 기반이 된 버전이기도 하다. 이후 Windows Phone도 NT 커널로 갈아탔다.
32비트 색상, 일명 트루 컬러를 지원한다.
